New Tyres - Wearing in period?
« on: November 02, 2012, 04:49:45 am »

Just put 2 new Michelin Pilot Sport 3's on the front, (The Conti-sport Contact2's on the back are like new, so no need to swap onto front).

Is there are 'wearing in' period to soften the compound before I can drive it 'in a more spirited fashion'?

If so, how many miles is recommended?

IIRC, there's a compound used to stop the rubber sticking to the mould in the tyre manufacture process.  My tyre shop always tells me to take it easy for the first 50-100 miles while that substance comes off the tyre tread - and to check wheel nut tightness at the same time.

Hope the noggin's on the mend. :happy2:

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
