engine light on after removing intake
« on: November 03, 2012, 11:50:26 am »
atm my car currently has a stage one map and an intake, few days ago i removed the intake and put the standard airbox back on for a quieter setup

however a few miles down the road the engine light came on and the garage said the fault was cam timing. so i had the cam belt changed and a service as it was almost due anyway. however the light is still on?

Is it just by chance that the light came on after i removed the intake or is it something i could have done?

Assuming all your intake hoses are secure and not leaking then your best course of action would be to get someone to do a vcds scan and post the fault code here. Without a fault code everyone would just be guessing.

The garage that scanned it for you should tell you what the fault code was and whether they cleared the fault code or not. Seems odd your cam timing should go out soon after changing back to the oe cover. Have you refitted the seal that goes around the maf sensor as that will cause a leak and cause a light to come on.

I managed to catch the cam sensor plug when I fitted my intake which brought the EML up. Turns out I broke a wire in the connector so needs replacing!
