Seems like an awful lot of money for what it is, I built up a kit that both my mrs and I have in winter in the cars.

Such as old car mats (for leaning on changing wheels or to gain traction if stuck in snow), waterproof jacket with hi-vis/gloves/hat/scarf/socks, wind up torch, bars of chocolate/bottle of water, fold up shovel, length of low stretch climbing rope, sleeping bag if going a distance and way more that I've forgotten about!

Sounds mental to most the idea of carrying this but a couple of years ago we nearly got stuck overnight on the M74.

I've always carried this kind of kit with driving a lot between north England and Falkirk, I always have snow tyres too but that instance showed you can prep all you want but if others don't drive to the conditions then you've nowhere to go!

I thought about building my own kit too. Things I would need:
- space blanket type thing
- decent lantern (I have torches but a lantern would let light out in all directions)
- road salt
- compact/folding shovel - would want something that didn't break the moment i used it

Things like thermos/sleeping bag/jacket I can buy elsewhere but any recommendations for the above items would be welcome.

I think I have some tubs of salt too - pretty much a Pringle's tube with salt in it, got them from a pound shop!
I have some rave sticks in the bag too (glow in the dark ones after you snap them).

Oh yeh, a good thick set of jumpleads are handy.

I have a metal shovel with metal shaft from a hardware store, I dripped candle wax on it as it helps repel snow from sticking.

Not sure where to get a metal/foil blanket - maybe an athletics shop?

If you have an Aldi nearby they should have some 60 LED worklights in at the minute, charges up via plug and last for ages. Even have a hook to hang it somewhere.

Thinking about it you could go crazy with stuff to carry  :signLOL:

Sourced my own bits years ago and update/add to it as time goes by. Carry the lot in a small (ish) box and come winter time it goes in the car at the same time as i change the car mats to rubber.

Bought a Multi LED light from Wilko's the other day for about £5. Folding Shovels from eBay are only about £7 and I bought a really good multi function lamp thingy from Halfords a few years back. I carry 2 thick blankets, will now be ordering the Silver Emergency Foil Blanket from here...
