Does anyone know anything about these at all? Had a quick look at a couple  of forums, with 280 bhp and Bilstein factory suspension, they are quick and can get round corners like go-carts. And 4wd will be very useful in the winter with a lot of my clients in villages in the Surrey Hills. Also, the boot is cavernous and the rear seats fold flat or can be removed, giving a lot of space.

My only concern is parts availability and price, but I am VERY tempted indeed!

I work in a subaru garage, these are nice cars but you need deep pockets to run one, they eat petrol need services every 10k!also if the tyres are with in 2mm of each other you have to do all 4

Thanks Maxitrol, I've had similar feedback from a mate today.

The young lady I have started dating has owned an 03 plate Forester Turbo petrol, and has done 130K in it, and it has been completely reliable. The seats fold dead flat, giving a big load area, so I'm contemplating getting one of these. What do you think? A bog standard one shouldn't be too much to run should it?

If you can find one that has full service history;they can be good but also if the car has twin cats on the exhaust and they need replacing they are a dealer part only costing 1k to replace and with the tyres and petrol they use these cars shouldn't be run on a budget..They are a car that Will go any where thou as the farmers love them up here

Cheaper to run than a Mk5 GTi?

That's a shame. It would be such a useful  vehicle, I have a lot of clients in remote parts of the Surrey Hills, up very steep hills and often muddy tracks.

The trouble is, they'll think I've come to tarmac their driveways!

What about a Honda Civic CR-V VTEC Sport or Executive? They come loaded with toys, big load bay with rear seats out, and super-reliable. Can pick up a good one with 70K FSH for 3 grand? I think I'm going to sack off the Touran idea, as 4WD is such a good idea for me. But the Scooby is so quick, and it's a classless motor, driven by farmers, yummy-mummys (my new lady-friend in particular!) and well-heeled country-folk alike.

Thanks, I'll get a test drive sorted. But the Scooby Forester is still in with a shout! My lady-friend has had no problems whatsoever with 130K and owned since new.

think the petrol ones are better than the diesels ones
