In an ideal world I'd keep my K03 GTi for summer, and have a mk4 R32 for winter. Beautiful cars. You can keep the Mk5 R32 Passat/Golf Hybrid!

i fear i might start a whole new debate here, but i don't think the S3 is as nice as the Golf R!

Its not, but you can pick up an 8P S3 for £11-12k, ie similar money to an Ed30, but with the benefit of the Haldex.

A Golf R is considerably more money, for very similar underpinnings iirc.

Only issue is with the S3 is that it looks like a box on wheels, Audi designers are even lazier than Porsche ones.

are we saying now that Golf R has nicer interior than Audi S3???  :signLOL:

I thought Audi is higher up in VW food chain than VW brand?? Maybe it's cause S3 is old now and R is new one? Need to see one to believe but s3 has deffo better materials than mark 6 that I am certain!

All is subjective in such threads as always!

^^^

RNS 510 is better than RNS-E. the Mk6 multifunction wheel is better than the 8P MFSW. And the Mk6 FIS is compatible with Polar FIS and Audi bits aren't. Plus the Mk6 comes with a lot of kit as standard which you have to pay for on the 8P

I think the 8P's materials are arguably better, but in terms of pure functionality there really is no contest imho
