mine went like this at 65k miles2006 gti revo stg1 - Was revision A camshaft.
Even if you changed the follower every 10k then the cam would have still worn and needed replacing at some point.

Think the follower is pre-oiled.

Also, I'm not sure if the Rev B cam really makes any difference to the follower issue? Surely if the Rev B cam shaft has been made harder it will cause the follower to fail quicker??
