This old APR vs blah blah blah propaganda argument has been circling since day dot... this thread smacks of the old gag of X-tuner's staff logging in on blag accounts and causing trouble, such is the level of defense of something as daft as this.

You pays your money, you pick what you prefer.

That's about sums it up for me  :happy2:

Also a very valid point about the way the posts were coming across as if this person had a vested interest in APR  :chicken:

Saying that, I would challenge anyone (big turbo or not) to get any where near mine round a track

look at what yours has done to it, if it was a case of using the same car i would probably challenge you to that  could be funny to see how close i could get  :happy2:

1/4 mile is a good indication of power, not the time but the trap speed is always a good indicator of power, if you get a good or a crap start your terminal is usually similar
I chose revo because of all the good reports they have, the srvice is excellent. I had carl answering my emails on sundays when he is supposed to be off work

I'm not saying it's the same thing, I'm fairly sure he's nothing more than a very loyal customer...  but when someone gets so personal about something so silly - it just reminds me of the classic threads on the 'tex where time and time again APR US were shown to be making arses of themselves with dirty tricks like that.

Their marketing strategy of charging double and slagging everyone else off as 'cheap, inferior crap' amuses me too, propaganda, buying key people off on forums with free stuff in exchange for reviews....

I haven't chosen Revo for the last 3 cars because of power figures, I've chosen it because I do business with people I like and trust.

JKM by all accounts are a very good and independant tuner who will simply offer all 3, giving a chance for everyone to research, make their own minds up and choose what they prefer, all under 1 roof.

If APR cars suddenly start making comedy figures on their rollers compared to the others though, we'll know they've been nobbled!!!

Disclaimer - the above is a joke   :signLOL:

JKM......which map do you suggest as being the best/most powerful, as you sell 3 of the main maps which out of the 3 would you use on your car?

you think msportman is an awesome/apr fanboy or works for them?

I think I know who Msportman is (uses a different tag on other forums, done this myself before when I've lost log in details).
Like myself he's been around modified VWs for a very long time. I'm not a mate of his or anything either, spoke to him once a very long time ago when we both had VR6s and I wanted to know a bit about VSR manifolds.
Anyhow, he spent a huuuge sum of money on his mk4 GTI using APR kit and it was a very nice machine and very quick, and as far as I know he has no connections with APR/Awesome other than spending enough there to keep Jim in nice holidays for a while. But he does have a raft of experience in modded VWs and some of the big names in tuning.

I too have a big respect for APR although I've never been a customer or have any other connections to them, and I also have great respect for REVO and many other tuners too for that matter. I think JKMs thinking behind this is that by offering APR hardware they can also offer their software that has been designed to go specifically hand in hand with it. In all JKM offer a fantastic choice of stuff all under one roof which is great in my opinion and you know they are going to be less swayed by either one tuning house or another so can give potential customers some pretty good independant advice.

Interesting question, but I bet you'll get a politicians answer from them!!!
I would guess they would say it would depend on what you want from the map and what further mods you have planned.
For an example I had REVO on my Polo GTI 1.8T and it was fantastic but really really struggled for traction, so when I got my mk5 I went for ANother map as it was tamer and smoother, but now I'm bored stiff of that and want something more aggressive!

Nope, dont think so.

Can't see any reference to Revo on their site now.

As far as I am aware they're still Revo dealers - all the Revo stuff is still on the website http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/shop.htm they have just changed the banner.

Perhaps I was misunderstood. I was replying 'nope' to the poster who asked "Have JKM dropped Revo?" i.e. to say that JKM have not dropped Revo!

As was mentioned above, the formation of APR was very interesting

msportsman (aka Ianb on other forums) is a very loyal APR customer and obviously will not have anyone diss their products (bit like the peeps on vortex really)

fair enough he was one of the few to bolt the APR S3+ GT28RS kit on a Mk4 Golf. Did he pay full price for it? Doubt it....hence a bit like the 'tex forum across the big pond.

Fair play to JKM...if they like their products and think it will sell then why not. At least it gives their  customers even wider choice of products to choose from and mix and match. Chris aka WhiteGTI for instance uses APR TBE with Revo map! And DomT uses Revo map with APR HPFP!

At the end of the day....choice is good for the consumer. Be bloody boring if it there was just one offering in the marketplace for a product!
So well done to JKM  :happy2:

LOL – a very good question and one which we have lined ourselves to be asked.
I hope that you can appreciate that we are still gathering performance data on the APR code so are unable to give a genuinely honest comparison so early on into us supplying the APR software.
We have been supplying APR hardware products for a long time now and the quality is very high which I am sure most people will agree with.
Offering the APR performance software was a simple progression for us to offer alongside their hardware.

Just like some other companies offer REVO etc alongside their own in house performance code - in my opinion most customers have already decided what code they want installed from their own research before they speak with us to book in. Basically once we have gathered more dyno data we will be able to give better information.

Kind regards
