i'd never own an Impreza but i admired them from a distance. 'tis a shame. i wouldn't mind so much if the BRZ STI was turbocharged

RIP Scooby. I've always wanted to be able to say i've owned one and when we were buying the GTI i tried to persaude the mrs into getting one but she's a badge snob and so wouldn't entertain it. Looks like the closest i'll get is Gran Turismo and Forza

Sad times indeed. Great cars but time moves on I suppose. Would still have a 22B in a heart beat though.  :notworthy:

would it have been too difficult to make a more efficient engine and economic engine, every other car maunfacturer has managed it!!  Its got such a huge cult following.  Make it fuel efficient and low on emmissions and surely it would be  massive seller

Shame though.

Its good news if you own an impreza though, because they wont depreciate much any more

I nearly bought one a few years ago, but the interior was woeful. It just shows you can't rest on your laurels in such a competitive market. As someone has already suggested, there's no excuse for uncompetitive emissions, poor economy and shocking interiors. Right or wrong, people expect so much more now than just performance and driveability. If you don't keep up, people vote with their feet.

its the running  cost of them as well  that puts people  of them  now!at work  the average service  and repair  Bill is £450:because  of the 4 wheel drive  on the new scoobys the tyres have not to be more than 2mm difference  between each other:ie if you need a new type and the rest are on 3mm and your new one is 7mm then  you need to change then all as it winds the diff up

Very sad news - owned plenty, my first a JDM coupe STi WRX back in 98.
Best one, the factory Cosworth Variant back in 2009 on which I developed the exhaust system for them.

Sad news, but a sign of the times. And with no WRC programme to attract buyers, it was only a matter of time before Subaru followed Mitsubishi out of AWD turbo cars.

8 years of Impreza driving. I still find my eye (and ear) drawn to them. The '05 was the last 'handsome' car in my opinion. However I was followed by a new shape '09 today and it still has a certain something.

But I wouldn't go back to my STi from the GTI. But I'm damn glad I owned two of them.

The last of the road-going rally cars is gone. The King is dead.

I very nearly got a 2006 WRX-STI instead of an Ed30.................after over a year of owning the ED30 I'm extremely glad I didn't though.

You can pick a good condition 'hawkeye' version up SO cheaply in the UK at the moment too, very tempted to get one for towing it round in the winter!
