Cough up £170 at a dealer and they will get you one in a week

Then pay to get it coded... again at the stdealers

Well what's the reason? Do you only have one key? Or is one of your existing keys ugly and scratched?

You'll need to give us a clue what year of car you have
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Chances are you have a later type immo so you need a trip to the dealers

so it is not possible to buy the complete key (incl immo) and get it coded by vagcom?

I have only done keys on older models. You can program with VCDS only if you have the SKC (secret key) but not your model as far as I know.

I think you need a pre-coded one and can have it cut elsewhere to make it slightly cheaper.

care to shed some lights on that? what do you mean by pre-coded?

I haven't done a key on a 56+ so all I'm doing is relaying what I've read.

can I buy the complete key from ebay and cut it elsewhere, then I get to the dealer only for the coding? Is that possible?

you need a new key, or a new transponder. The transponder also needs some info from your car (if you order a key from the dealer it is loaded with info from your car)

If you have some expensive equipment you can get round that
Genuine VCDS VAG-COM HEX-USB + Genuine Vag Commander + Genuine VAG Tacho + Genuine VAG CAN PRO  + RNS Manager for Video in Motion and New Pin Code for RNS510

Cluster and Key coding
