Can someone explain what vcds is to a newbie? And can I buy it?

VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System) is Windows-based software that allows a PC to act as a diagnostic tool for VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda vehicles.

Have a look on here. The only place to buy it really....

I bought my cable from Nigel (NHN) on this forum. He can supply a genuine VCDS cable and then you download the software of Ross Tech's website.

How much is the software on its own mate? And how much is the cable from Nigel?

And one of my favourites.....

Cornering fogs

As said above, you need the module to do that. It's more of a retrofit, rather than something you can just "turn on"

Module? Eddie-NL just coded mine and now I az cornering fogs.  :jumpmove:

^^ I think its just for when the car is parked

Yeap, when the car is parked, keys out of ignition, doors locked/unlocked and your windows are open  (your indoors watching TV) and it starts raining. Will close by themselves. Great little touch and really works as well.

 :happy2:

Eddie activated this on mine for me, opened all windows and sunroof and then threw a few drops of water at the screen and they all closed, nice touch  :notworthy:

As mentioned the software is free as long as you have a genuine cable. Best to pm Nigel but I paid £250 delivered a few weeks ago.

I have a VCDS in the Northwest, I could always have a tinker, and see what options your car has to offer  :happy2:
