Heath Robinson trackday camera mounts
« on: January 08, 2013, 11:53:31 pm »
Not photography but using a camera so its close enough :innocent:

Who's got one?

We have a few semi decent digital cameras knocking about the house as well as a pretty good Fujifilm finepix S4200 which will record 720p at 30fps. http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/83720/show.html?cm_vc=PPZ1

That will be ample for trackday footage but I need to fashion some sort of mount to hold it between the two headrests.

Anyone attempted this or have any ideas/links?

I'm not keen on wasting further money on a gopro camera kit that will achieve the same.

Sy... you want to be using a light camera. The camera you posted looks a bit big and heavy!

In the grand scheme of a 1200 kg its pretty light. Only 450grams

I dont mean in terms of 11/10ths around a track... a lighter camera, will be more stable and produce better videos.... think Go-Pro size and weight.

Perfect. I've seen the hague headrest mounts which are similar but grossly over priced. This is perfect. Cheers

I can always change to a lighter camera if it doesnt work too well. I'm not after anything too special

Tesco or asda sell cheap tripods (£4.99) that have a removeable top section the same as mine, I got mine from Aldi in the cheap bin for £2!  :happy2:

This one seems perfect http://m.direct.asda.com/Strand-Tripod/000631325,default,pd.html
As long as the head is secured by a bolt or screw so you can remove it that's spot on  :happy2:
