Stage 1 Revo settings

Hi guys.

Seems a silly question but not to sure......

I'm looking into the mapping side of things with the eddy, my tuner logs the car on the road as well as the dyno with the graphs as well which is great.

Even with stage 1 the settings are different for every car which will be setup on the day via the road and dyno for the best results.

That's all fine, but I don't get how these figures are determined? How do they know what to put in?

Will they be asking me what my driving preferences are? For example how I want the power delivery etc?

They apply the recommended setting, then data log it and go from there. Whether they can achieve more power through timing, they can increase it, same with boost/fuel setting.

Revo is very simple to set up as you only have 3 settings that work on a simple sliding scale (0-9)

Boost is determined by logging block 115, the higher the number the more aggressive it is, if you are at boost 9 and the engine won't make the requested amount you can drop the number down until the engine is happy to make the boost being requested

Timing is determined by logging block 020 and making sure timing pull (the amount of ignition timing the ECU is pulling out) isn't too high (6 degrees maximum)

Fuelling is set by the AFR being correct. But after setting fuelling you may go back to log timing, generally the richer the AFR the more timing you can add.

On a dyno you can also see the effects that these changes are having in torque output and not just on the logs. Generally cars set up on the dyno and checked on the road make more power (depending on the tuner) as you can find the exact settings where the engine is safest/most powerful.

So the settings don't affect power delivery or anything for driver pref?

AFAIK.. setting the boost to 9 gives a more aggressive boost... where as 6 is more progressive (this is in reference to the newish k04 update maps)

So if you got the boost right you could eliminate a lot of wheel spin?

I imagine 9 would be hard to control wheel spin.

Correct me if I'm wrong, just trying to learn abit more!

Ask your local revo specialist to set it up for you, should be someone local with a dyno.

My local specialist is Clive Atthowe who sets car up on the road apparently an charges extra for dyno logging an print outs. Which isn't an issue as I will have that as well to make sure its spot on.

sometimes you do, sometimes you dont. but there is more guesswork when its done on the road.
