have standard GTI Ed30 thinking of mods?

I have a totally standard Ed30, 31k mileage and excellent condition.
Im thinking of doing some minor mods in terms of performance but dont want to go over board.   What can i do?

I was thinking of getting a Forge twintake.   Now if i do this will anything else have to be done along side this?  Also is Forge the best choice for the Ed30?
Also how will doing the above affect servicing?  do filters need to be changed or cleaned on twintake, will VW do this or not touch it?

If i was to get a Revo stage 1 should i do it after the forge twintake or before its fitted?

Also my Ed30 is 2007 model, im concerned about the DV should this be checked/replaced before the twintake is installed..

An aftermarket air intake on its own isn't going to add much performance so you best consider a remap and a performance high-flow exhaust and then all three mods will give you gains.

But beware that modding is a very slippery slope!

R Tech remap
BCS exhaust
Air Intake (take yr pick!?)
Id suggest however to have DV checked for tears!

Hi Vik.

As Robin said all three would certainly be noticeable, Revo or APR or GIAC or Bluefin etc are good for remaps. Milltek are pretty good for exhausts, Forge, VW Racing or ITG are all good intakes.

Use the search function on here or check out peoples cars on the 'members rides' section and you'll see what approach people take.

Ultimately it's up to you and what you prefer looks wise and price/budget.

Stage 1 remap with a turbo-back exhaust system plus an intake will definitely get you grinning!

I'd go for a decent custom Stage 1 map e.g. R-tech and some better front pads e.g. Tarox Corsa then enjoy it for a few months and perhaps then look at other performance mods; TBE / IK / LSD / BB... ...

work i have to get done on my ed30
- get DV checked, i want to be on safe side make sure its OK - dunno why just a itch i got to get it checked.
- cambelt and water pump change
- DSG service
- brake fluid
- a/c service
- major service

after this i had about £600 to spend so i decided im just going to get a Neuspeed P Flo Intake and leave it at that, and keep everything else stock.  

also going to put this custom sub enclosure in the back, very oem look.  i already got the dynaudio sound pack, but will prob add a additional amp with a 10" sub

X 100! U mite get an extra 3bp if u r lucky, and a noise! I dont know how much this intake is tbh, but if new I doubt its much less than a custom map from the likes of R Tech, the latter putting an infinitely bigger smile on yr face!!

If you don't want to do much to the car just get a remap and r32 front brake kit this should cost you about £700-£1000 fitted depending on where you go !

IMO that's the best money you can spend, the brakes aren't very good and the differance a remap makes is very good !

For another £300 you could get an anti lift kit and lower engine mount, that's where my next few pounds would go - if you decide to go further.
