I have a 1.9TDI. I wouldnt change for a 1.6 petrol. But as above. Considered 2.0Tdi, maybe a GT? You would be suprised how cheap people have got insurance on even GTI's

I would go petrol over diesel any day! Depends how many miles your doing though really. If your doing a very high mileage then diesel could be the sensible choice, but if your only a low to average miler then your better off with petrol  :happy2:

I have a 1.6fsi, and there are a few problems lol.

Get the 1.9tdi if you travel more than say 150miles a week?

With those mileages, definitely go for the petrol. Diesels need to be warmed up for longer before they are running best. Also on a diesel there is a filter which needs a 30minute journey each week to burn off the diesel soot.

I have a 1.9 tdi Altea, it was crap until remapped.
The majority, if not all, mk5 1.9's won't have a DPF however do have known flywheel and turbo problems.

If you go for the diesel, look at a 6speed version.

With your mileage the 1.6 will be good for pottering about with less expensive things to go wrong. You do almost no mileage to justify a diesel.

I recently sold my 2.0 tdi as I did only 3000 miles last year in it.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)
