Xenon main beam doesn't stay on.
« on: January 19, 2013, 08:15:55 pm »
Hey guys.

Finally got round to fitting my Xenons today, complete with shutters and levelling.

Everything is working except one shutter, which should just be a connection.

But the one that does work, when I put on main beam, flicks on, but flicks back off after a few seconds, the blue dash light stays on.....

Any ideas?

Cheers

It may need coding.
Without traction power is nothing!

I'm guessing this is OEM, have you tried to get a VCDS scan and see if any controller is not working correctly?

hey guys i wanna raise this thread as it's relevant for my situation..

I have just retrofitted bi-xenons for my golf plus but i cannot get the high beam to work, the shutter simply doesnt kick in. i have measured the power with a voltmeter but it returns 0.00 volts, absolutely nothing. :(

I have checked all wirings and everything is set and wired as it should. i have also coded everything right. The right high beam used to work about 2-5 seconds each time i switched it on but it doesnt work at all now, after i have put in a new afs module in the headlight cause the old module was defective.

Anyone knows something? Here's the status of the CECM:

Thanks mate, i can see that there is a issue where the plug which goes into the CECM can be fully locked while the wires are not fully inserted which can result in no electrical contact.. I will take a look at that :)

can you specify that? Check if the coding has applied? Does that mean i have to open the long coding helper just after i have applied the code or should i switch ign off and then on and have a look?

I do as you said - switch the ignition off then recheck - its those simple mistakes which cause loss of hair!

Keep the thread going if you sort it as there's been plenty problems with this mod!

I tried to check the Bi-xenon wires today. The one in D6 didnt really "catch on" but i managed to bend it a little inside so it could get contact. A5 was fine. Turned on the vehicle but no luck this time either... Checked code, everything were as it should be. Damnit.

When i try to go to the central electronics in VCDS and then do a output test on the high beam it reports "Refused by control module"... could this be software related?

Since I've never undertaken this mod I can only share data I've came across.

I had looked at this link and thought it could be helpful!

Let's know what you think.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately it's not useful in this matter since it's just the same guide as the others.  :/

Have you activated xenons in vcds?
