Have had my DSG GTI for just over 2 years with no issues (and afaik the mech unit has never failed/been replaced). I love the DSG box so much so that it would be difficult for me to get a car without DSG or its equivalent :happy2:

There was a poll on here about DSG issues a while back, not scientific but IIRC 57 plate's seemed to have the most issues.

Like with most things you will get more people online reporting something that has gone wrong than when things are working fine.

How often do they need serviced or need the oil changed, isn't it quite pricey?

Also heard quite a few on here talking about re-mapping them, what exactly do you get with a re-map?

A DSG oil change from a dealer i think was around £150 from memory and receipts for my car - but this wasnt recent although i cant imagine its changed much since then.

I think its every 50k miles, but again, cant remember exactly but it is listed in the service docs for the car

I have just had my DSG serviced cost me £178 at the VW stealer recommended to be done at 40K

I also really like the DSG mine is very smooth in D or S you can only really  tell its changing gear by the exhaust note changing.

Much better and smoother than previous "slushbox" auto's that I have owned.

Mine is sweet, been serviced once but I'll probably get it done again this year to keep it fresh.

You see loads of the American lads strapping 30's to their cars and the box takes it no problem!
