An S6 Audi Allroad 2.7T Bi-turbo Quattro with a Revo Stage 1 remap taking it from 250bhp to 315bhp, and 259ib/ft to 369 lb/ft of torque?

Taking into account Greener's comment about power delivery of non-turbo cars, this would cover that one off. It's also 4wd, the boot is huge and the seats fold dead flat, so it ticks all the work boxes.

Or are there better A6 based models with this engine in terms of driver enjoyment? Or is the 4.2 in this a better bet?

Help appreciated. A small part of me dies every time I have to get in a Transit Connect every morning and evening.

Why not just buy the car that you want to buy?

Does the SPS switch work with the S6?

I want to stay VAG. I also need 4wd. One of the key requirements is to be able to get to all my clients in the Surrey Hills and other rural areas when the weather is like this.

Richard, the car I wanted to buy was the S4, but having measured my neighbours B6 Avant boot, it's not big enough. I've now identified the A6 as big enough, so I'm asking for opinions on those. I need 4wd, estate, and power! Fun also welcome!

For the 2.7 Biturbo, the SPS works for boost and timing only. Not sure if it allows 3 performance modes.

Fair enough. I do like the AllRoad models. An Audi without the bling!

I've looked at the 2.5TDI, but I doubt it'll deliver the fun factor. It'll also sound terrible. I'd deffinitely go manual though, as I'm seriously anti-auto! 2 pedals bad, 3 pedals good!

I definitely agree with you to go manual if your wanting to control snow/ice traction more effectively.  However, unless you've got the clearance the difference between 4wd and 2wd with winter tyres won't have as much benefit as your probably thinking.  Leaving summer tyres on the 4wd wil make the whole thing useless in the snow, but I know your not even considering that.

So if you haven't got the clearance of a jacked all sport or proper 4wd then the drifts will stop you before the 4wd / 2wd issue presents itself.

How about an ugly Subaru Forester Turbo?

I've been looking at these for ages. The 2 Scoobys also in consideration are the Forester 2.5XT (seriously quick) and the Legacy 3.0R Spec B. But I have owned 9 Golfs, and I really want to keep everything VAG if possible, hence these recent threads.

The Subarus are great cars, but the interiors (especially the Forester) are woeful. My new Girlfriend has a 2.0 Forester XT Turbo, and I drove that last weekend and it was fun, but the plastics are awful! Its like an eighties Nissan Bluebird in there! She has had no problems getting around in it when it snowed, and they 10 inches of snow where she lives.

Air-ride on the A6 is no longer a massive four figure problem, Votex do a repair kit for £100 or so plus labour.

And you're right, the boot on my A6 is huuuuuuuge. it'll easily take a king sized double mattress with the bootlid closed!
Sideways yo!
