GPS antenna location

intend to fit my rns tomorrow..
wheres best location for the antenna to be fitted??

Mine's under the top vent diffuser. Others have suggested the dashboard (underneath) as there's no metal in the way.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Make the push and do this if your travelling in built up locations eg London central areas etc. As they perform first class.
However, for all other locations the puck aerial works fine!

Sorry to jump on this thread but my antenna had been placed on a ledge above the dash (glovebox side) usual number of satellites I picked was 4-6.  I moved it today just under the central vent like the above link.  I'm now getting 6-7 consistently.  I've read elsewhere that guys are picking up 9-11 satellites.  Would a new antenna make any difference I wonder? The antenna is only about a month old, but they're pretty cheap to buy

I wish I could get 9-11 satellites without putting the puck on the surface of the dashboard itself.
Without traction power is nothing!

When I stick the puck on the dash it stayed at 7 satellites.  6/7 satellites is normal so?
