Welcome along Simon!  :drinking:

That Mk4 looks lovely.  Welcome to the TR club too.

Where are you mate? I spent my childhood at the bottom of that street in the first pic (The Causeway in Horsham) as my parents lived there.

Where are you mate? I spent my childhood keying as many 'fancy' cars as I could at the bottom of that street in the first pic (The Causeway in Horsham) as my parents lived there.

Hi guys.

I live in Crawley and work in Southwater, so grabbed some pics one lunchtime.

Yes very pleased with the car so far, only driven it home from buying on Saturday .

Few bits ordered up today, Pipercross panel filter, new VW mats, Polo aerial, Tornado touch up and a Menzerna complete Polish and Pad Kit to bring some shine to the paint.

Cheers guys, yes did enjoy taking the Mk4 to the level I did. Just fancied a change. Always wanted a Mk5.

My car history: Mk2 Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 205 1.6 GTi, Series 2 RS Turbo, Escort Cosworth, Some Citroen AXs (can you tell when I moved out of home  :ashamed:), Mk3 Golf GTi, Mk4 Golf Gti and now the Mk5.

Hi Dave, yeah thought be rude not to sign up. Looking forward to seeing how this one goes.

Si

Bit of maintenance today.

New fob sticker:

Made a start on the engine bay, fitted Pipercross panel and cleaned with GUNK:

Picked up aerial and touch up from VW:

Not sure what had gone on with standard one! Looks like burned out, dare I say the CW word!

Much better!:

Plus picked up some Ostram Nightbreaker Plus H7 Bulbs and Meg pads (needed to tip price over £20 for forum discount)

Oh the joy of actually being able to fit headlight bulbs without taking the bumper off! Handy twist fit covers and bulb holders, 2 second job. Took me longer to get the new bulbs out the pack than fit them.

Done:

As the nights are dark started to clean the interior tonight in the garage.

Magic Eraser and Megs leather cleaner/conditioner:

The steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake where showing signs on some shining. So used the Magic Eraser to take the shine off and leather a nice OEM mat finish.

Before:

Plenty of dirt came off:

After:

Very pleased with the results! A great even finish. Will get some better pics taken in the daylight.

Then moved onto the seats:

Really pleased with both products!

Looking better already Si - from recent experience I know there's something about cleaning a new car that makes it feel properly 'yours'.

Can't believe the state of that aerial, jeez!

Engine looks like hard work, but has come up well. Look forward to how you've got on with the paint

Cheers guys.

Phew what a day! 6 hours detailing session: Washed car, clayed car, Mezura compound stage 1, then stage 2 glaze, then AG HD wax by hand and final Auto Finesse Tough coat sealant on top!

Pics to come. Very pleased with results.

So 6 hours detailing session on Sunday [:$] Happy as a pig in..

Anyways, pics.

First washed with Auto Finesse Lather and dried:

Hard to show, paintwork clean, but few imperfections etc:

Clayed all panels:

After doing the bonnet:

Then broke the Dodo Juice Buff Daddy out for some three stage mopping:

Menzura compound and white medium pad:

Again, hard to show with camera, but misty area was the part I had worked with:

Result:

Then Menzura Glaze and yellow light pad:

Results:

Then applied Auto Finesse Tough Coat sealant by hand:

Then applied Auto Glym HD wax by hand:

Results:

I worked round the whole car, bonnet, front wings, mirrors, roof, drivers side, passengers side, boot then front and rear bumpers!

Very please with the results, really given the cars paint a lovely deep shine. Nothing beat giving my new cars a proper clean.

Battery ran out before I could take some full pics, plus I was knackered!! Will get some up this weekend. Might give it another wash first tho [:$] like to try out some new wax, heard good reviews for Victoria Concourse wax on red.
