Diesel driving does get rather boring

^^^^^ I disagree, diesel or petrol it does depend on what you have done to the car and how you drive it!

I average 20k a year and my diesel bill averages about £300 per month.
My car sits on the motorway for about 60-70 miles Mon-Fri.

Keep the GTi, that way you can have fun in it at the weekends.

A sole purpose for a car is to be driven its why it was made I think some people can afford to buy the cars but can't afford to run em ie fuel and service work as over 20k in fuel cost does mount up to a lot of cash

QFT.

I opted out of my company car scheme (Took the cash) so I could drive a GTI  :signLOL: Sure it's more hassle running your own car but I didn't want to be a member of the Aldi 1.9/2.0 TDI club yet.

The GTI is designed to be an everyday car...

The running costs aren't that bad, the mpg is mediocre and the range can be a bit annoying for longer journeys which is where the TDI shines.

Keep the Golf as your weekender, and buy something cheap/average for her to all those miles in.   :happy2:

At 70mph on a motorway following a line of cars it doesn't matter what your driving.

My TDI is very similar to driving a TFSI, immense throttle response and linear power / torque curve. Diesels have really come on a lot. Mine is quieter on idle than a TFSI

I have just changed from a BMW 120d m sport coupe to a Edition 30. I do high mileage and it's the best thing i've ever done. So much nicer to driver, actually moves when you put your foot down and sounds decent for a 4 cylinder engine.

Economy, i would say is exceptional for the performance, i always see at least 380 miles from a tank and usually 400, that's mostly sedate driving with some blasts.

I actually look forward to driving to and from work now, whereas before, it was a chore.

I probably have been driving the wrong one, its more the feel when driving such as the interior and suspension.  I take it back! :)

For a forum called mk5golfgti.co.uk there are a lot of people who seem to be against driving a MK5 Golf GTI!
Am I missing something?

Hopefully not upsetting anyone but I don't see my Gti as a weekender car, it's not exciting enough for me.  If I keep it, it will be to replace the Audi as GF's commuter car and use as our practical car when space is needed.

There are a lot of oddball weirdos on this forum. The mods are the real diesel lovers.
