« on: March 02, 2013, 07:18:48 pm »
As the title really been offered a good deal going from my leon Cupra R to a 58 plate golf gt tdi 170
Obviously cash my way but anyone any opinions on this?
Sick of putting £65 a week fuel through and only getting 250 miles.

Had been thinking the same with my Stage 1 Cupra with the fuel price's going up again, i get 275-325 for £65. Old mans got the 170PD Mk5 07 plate and it's not the greatest on fuel for a diesel, plus the cost of diesel is higher too. Not quite worth the move for me unless i want to give up performance and go for a 140 or smaller still, I don't do enough miles for it (around 8,000).

I do 1000 miles a month and average 26 mpg so I had hoped for 40ish mpg.
Do you think that's possible?

I get around 500 miles from a tank. Made up of half short but quick journey to work and the other half eager motor way. That means filling up twice a month, if that helps. Mines a 170 GT with no engine or suspension mods as yet. Only looking at an r tec map soon.

Thanks for that. I find myself using her Leon diesel to save on fuel which defeats the point of keeping my R doesn't it?

Instead of the 26mpg I currently get do you think I'm being optimistic hoping for 40mpg?

I'd say you would easily get 40mpg if not more

40mpg is easily achievable on a standard car. I used to see around 58mpg on my commute to work which consists of a mix of 30mph and around 70% national speed limit A roads. I'm now at 216bhp and can still get into the low 50's on the same commute.
