EOS - What's it like?

Anyone driven or owned an EOS?

Is it like driving a MK5, whats boot space like etc.

I might swap mine for one, for the 3 days of summer we get i would love to go topless.  I miss my Boxster but want something a little more practical so thinking this or an A4.

What are your thoughts?

I had one as a courtesy car once. Not a bad car to drive.

It was fun playing with the roof. What can I say "I'm an Engineer". Couldn't help but think the roof will be massively expensive to fix when the warranty is up!
I did enjoy the roof down experience (even though it was march).

The boot is pretty big but is reduced to the size of a shoe box with the roof down.

They wobble. And creak. A lot.

Oh, and they're not practical at all.

And the seals on the roof leak.

I had one for a month and was massively disappointed with it. It's probably OK if you live in an area with very good smooth roads, but where I live it shuddered over everything. The boot, even with the roof up is an incredibly awkward shape. You perhaps don't have the need to do it, but putting a pushchair in it is near impossible.

Oh, and it's based on a Passat, so not like driving a Golf at all.

Yes, will need to fit a pushchair in.  I thought it was on the golf platform, no wonder its disappointing.  Thanks all, will look at A4's and maybe a 3 series  :ashamed:

don't worry what people say

You should look at one and take it for a test drive over different roads and with the roof closed and open

the roof is a master piece of design. If I had to have a cabrio, i would choose the eos roof over a fabric one

True but the pushchair thing will be an issue.  Wish I had the money for a mk6 Golf cab.

Like Eddie says go for a test drive with the pushchair and see if it fits.

I had one for a week and loved it, even with kids in the back and we got our sons pushchair in and had no issues with boot space.

I drove a 2.0t one for a few days last summer (belongs to a friend who needed a lift to and from the airport - so I agreed as long as I could have the Eos to drive for while he was away)

Scuttle shake is the worst I've seen since driving a mk1 golf cabrio. Everything rattled, it wallowed badly under cornering - even with a bit of vigour it felt out of its depth.

Oh and Eos means "fishbowl" in Spanish & "paddling pool" in German - I've seen tea bags that repel water better!!  :signLOL:

The MK1 didn't have much scuttle shake in comparison to most other soft tops, the mk3/4 was bad, but not as bad as the Saab I drove!!

Ok no where near so bad as a mk1 fiesta xr2 fly (read cabrio) that I drove back in the late 90's - it was seriously dangerous scuttle shake!!

My mrs has one and so does a colleague at work!

The mrs has a 2.0 tdi which i drive quite a bit, it doesnt handle anywhere near as well as the GTI but rate it against other TDI convertibles and it really isnt that bad! Roof is a master piece and if you look after the rubbers it wont leak. Peoples complaints about leaks are usually because they have been left and not greased up, usually every other month I do them!

There is a large boot but the cover that stops you putting the roof down when the boot is full does foul the space you would probably need for a pram!

The eos at my work is a 3.2 v6 and drives like a boat! That engine shouldnt have gone in to a eos IMHO lol

Test drive one and see what you think! If you are local to kent you are welcome to come and be a passenger in one and see what you think!  :signLOL:

Has the same interior as my scirocco - which IMHO is nicer than the mk6 golf  :happy2:

I don't think you can get a flat bottom steering wheel, although you could probably retrofit one.
