RCD 510 safe/code pin and 12volt feed
« on: March 19, 2013, 05:04:07 pm »
Hi,

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of why my RCD510 will only power on when the car is ticking over. It wont power on if the key is in the ignition and as soon as the ignition is turned off the head unit switches off.

I think I have found the answer, but I wanted to check with others before I start cutting cables. I have a Parrot SOT cable connected to the back of the rcd510, from the info I have found the SOT cable has a 12 volt feed into both pins 15 (+UB) and 16 (Safe/Code). However, the pin into 15 is a Permanent 12v feed while the pin into 16 is +12v Ignition.

I assume that this is the cause of the unit only powering on when the car is ticking over?

just replaced my rcd310 with parrot, for rcd510 and it works fine. It turns off if you pull the key out, which is what you want, and stays on if only engine turned off. My car is 2008.

Mine turns off as soon as you turn the ignition off and leave the key in. I do have a Leon Cupra, and I know that the Pin 16 is not normally populated by Seat.
