Engine Temp
« on: March 22, 2013, 01:46:17 pm »
Hi
Ive just bought an 05 GTI from a garage. My temp gauge will only ever reach 70c when i am driving. When i stop for say 5-10mins it will rise to 90c but as soon as I start driving again it will drop back down. Is this normal? I bought the car from a seat garage who have said that the car is showing no fault codes and that this is normal behaviour. Can someone please confirm what it should be at?

Should be 90C when warmed up so I suspect your thermostat is stuck open.
Without traction power is nothing!

Yes but it's a bit involved trying to replace it due to its location.
