Kenwood DNX521DAB - Battery Drain
« on: March 24, 2013, 05:30:55 pm »
Hi guys

I fitted the DNX521DAB HU yesterday and my car wouldn't start this afternoon, think its a flat battery. I had disconnected the battery for the install. I have a 2007 56 plate GTI with an updated canbus (fitted when I fitted the RNS510).

Are there any known issues of battery drain with this unit?

Could it have happened because I was playing around with the system for 30-40 mins after installation and haven't driven/started the car for a week?

EDIT:
I'm just off to get hold of some jump leads to confirm it is a flat battery as pretty much all the warning lights on the dash have come on :sad1:

It'll have been the playing about afterwards without engine running combined with cold temps, killing off the dwindling battery charge.

Happened a few times with my mk5's.

Did you have auto lights/cabin fans/heated seats on without realising?
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I just got it started with the jump leads

Ah I see. Yeah I did have the fans on and is usually on auto lights.

Will have to be careful in future.

Just wanted to check if I would lose my map when the battery went flat? i.e set back to standard

Went for a drive after getting it started and I think it felt slightly slower but that maybe in my mind.

I have/had a PDT stage 1 map.
