Big Wheels
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:45:55 pm »
Found these and really do like the rims, been told they are ONLY available in 19's? really would like some in 18's/ Are there any replicas in 18's ?

I have a 5 door and use it daily, must be practical - I really think 19's are going to come with issues.........

Never seen the Phaeton Helios wheels in 18", real or reps.

Reps are available in 19" from all over the place. Found these, autoalloys.com but no idea of the quality though. The real ones weigh as much as the planet Earth and aren't cheap either so the reps might be lighter and definitely cheaper.

19" 5x112. £600 for a set......

Proving that you get your geometry setup with the bigger wheels on you shouldn't have any issues :-)

I really do  love these rims - 19's are just tooooo big in my opinion, unless you really drop it, I think it cann look so so wrong. Sorry, I do not mean to upset anyone, this is MY opinion only:

BAD - look way too big

Nice  but there is now way I can go this low. Look great slighly hidden

As Andy says, in the middle, drop of about 30mm will do the trick. Not sure if you'll need any modding to the arch liners, at least the screw delete I'd imagine as those Helios are 9" wide I think. Eibach Sportlines or H&R springs will do the trick.

That does look nice

can you get away with some shorter springs?

Concerns - carry 4 ppl, shopping etc. is this going to start rubbing, catching and causing full lock issues? annyone with 19's here?

I was concerned that my 19s were going to look stupid but now that I've got them, I'm glad I did, the mk5 has big arches. I've had no problems with rubbing on full lock or going over bumps. The ride hasn't really changed either, but it has got noisier :(

My wheels are 8.5 wide with 235 35 19 tyres (Goodyear eagle f1)
