Yep cambelt and water pump done 1500 miles ago along with rear discs and ferodo ds2500 pads all around plus full service inc a dsg service so it sounds a good one. And I plan to do cam follower and DV first jobs mainly for peace of mind!

Mileage is just a number mate.
My car has done 147k  :happy2: I'd rather buy a well cared for car that's done 120k than one with an unknown or poor history that's done 50k...

Mines for sale atm with 119k and feels just as tight as it did when I got it with half that, When I was searching I test drove a 20k example that had OBVIOUSLY been clocked or just treated like s**t.

I would prefer an honest higher mileage car than a low mileage that doesnt add up  :happy2:

Good to know these engines can take the miles.

Just going back to the point where the guy phoned and found out what had been done on the car, do you just phone vw and they tell you what's been done?

Yeah if you phone with chassis number they will be able to tell you what's been carried out under warranty, also I believe they have a digital record of services done.

I'd say that's a must. I bought a 1 owner std GTi on 99k with FVWSH recently, only to find that the DV was popped, PCV valve goosed, a wheel bearing grumbled, and the cam follower had of course never been changed. It could also do with a cam chain and tensioner, as it sounds more like a TDi than a real TDi on tickover.

I put a lot of faith in a FVWSH, but it transpires that it isn't much more than fluid changes, recall replacements, and a re-gas of the air con when you read the paperwork. :booty:

I'd be asking a lot of questions, and if you can get a warranty all the better.

Rich.

Having FVWSH doesnt really inspire me and i personally doesnt think it adds any sort of value to the car over one thats been serviced at an Indy..
To me, a car thats only ever had servicing done at VW means the oil has never been properly drained as they use a pump to suck the oil out.

Car ads that also say "Careful lady owner" does not provide me with any comfort. I might be generalising a little but if my Mrs is anything to go by.... thanks but no thanks...
