Bumper dilemma
« on: April 25, 2013, 08:51:14 am »
Ok so after being rear ended last month and waiting for VW to order a new edition 30 rear valance they call me today saying the wrong one has turned up

After seeing the pictures they have got the votex two part valance which costs about the same

I've never seen one of these on a GTI but what are people's opinions?

Should I get the votex one or wait again for an edition 30 valance?

Votex one seems more rare or is it just me not seeing them?

Any ideas people..... What d'ya think?

Thanks
Dave

I think you need to get which one you like, since it's your car and all that

Just never seen one in the flesh so not sure if I'd be crazy to get the votex one for a change from what I've got now?

Old edition30 valance has a crack along the number plate recess so can be sold and repaired quite easily

Does anybody know which golf this came on or was it an aftermarket body kit made by VW?

Was it European models only? Been searching the web on my phone while at work so not found very much info

Yeah VW aftermarket.

My personal preference would be the Eddie bumper :happy2:
Diamond Black 2007 (56) Golf GTI 3Dr DSG ¦ 18" Monza II's ¦ Cruise control ¦ MFSW ¦ Highline ¦ Rear parking sensors ¦ PDT Stage 1 ¦ Forge Twintake ¦ H&R Sport Springs ¦ NQSBBK ¦ R32 Rear bumper ¦ BCS Powervalve Sports R32 style TBE ¦ Valeo LED Rear Lights ¦ Xenon lights with HID kit ¦ DNX521DAB ¦ 12mm Spacers all round ¦

As above was an optional kit for the golf made by VW. I've got the votex front lip on mine. Votex stuff is rare over here and was sold more in Europe and America.

If you go on google image search and type in "mk5 golf votex rear bumper" loads of pics comes up

Also if you went for the votex you would have to declare it to your insurance company as it would then be a modification which could effect your premium (probably wont) and some insurers won't insure modded vehicles

Not overly fussed on the Votex rear, seems a little odd with that extra bit. I'd stick with an Eddy rear or get an R32 rear end with a side exhaust exit valance fitted (which is what I'm doing), OEM+ IMHO.

Home from work now and been checking out some decent sized pictures

I'm still not sure as I like the edition 30 one I've had on the car for over a year but the rarity of the votex one appeals to me as I've never seen one before and think it looks really good

Haven't got the luxury of having the choice of an R32 valance aswell because its a repair someone is paying for outside insurance so I've only got votex or eddy to choose from

Looked at an r32 rear ages ago but had already got my miltek by then  :stupid:

To keep your milltek and have and r32 rear all you need is a different exhaust surround to fit from someone like srs-tec.de
