A few days ago I purchased a 2005 Golf GTX, it has the same FSI turbo (AXX) Engine and 6 speed DSG as the Golf GTI, it has done around 52,000miles from new.

It seems that this model was made for the Japanese Market (its a used import from Japan).

It doesn't have the GTi Front, however it has HID headlights, Heated Leather Seats, Cruise Control, Electric Seats etc, less sporty wood grain steering wheel and trim pieces.
Stock tyre size is 225/45/17, which I assume is the same as the GTI Model.

I will take some better pictures later on, this is all I have for now.
In New Zealand the GTI model is rather over priced, this GTX model was 6 Grand cheaper, as far as I can tell its mechanically identical and doesn't really attract attention.

Interesting example.

Does it have 312 discs?

For about £200 you should be able to get a GTI front bumper and grill painted to code from eBay to enhance the look.

Take a pic of under the hood, be mad if it had a K04

It has the same brakes as the GTI I think, they seem big anyway.

I found a video of one the same, the interior isn't to everyone's tastes, but its growing on me.
The sticker in the boot says 147kw, aka, 200ps (197bhp) so it will be the normal AXX engine with the K03

Tis a strange one, doesn't have GTI dials, but defo GTI K03 engine (as you say), rear looks the same, and brakes (alebit unpainted), I like the cream leather... you could always swap the wood trim out for brushed steel.  I wonder if it has softer springs...

Reckon you could get that looking like a GTI for about £1.5k with parts from eBay... huge saving over the price difference you said described above.

First thing... check and replace the cam follower! :happy2:

Welcome. Nice car and you can always add bits to suit your taste as the guys say. Good to have the performance of the gti engine though.

Where are you there - I have family at Rakaia near ChCh - been there heaps and love it. Bit like NI where I am only nicer/better!
