Fellow Mountain Bikers! PLEASE READ
« on: May 14, 2013, 04:45:22 pm »
Please for the sake of your friends and family, PLEASE wear a helmet, don't go through what I have/am right now...

Fell off and landed on my head/face on a section of road...

Helmet had a huge crack round one corner wish  I was wearing my full face one... Helmet was trashed, but might not be here if I wasn't wearing or being fed by spoon by a relative...

[/quote]

Now suffering from post concussion symptoms which are awful and really impairs you life... Wouldn't wish on anyone... So please take care out there...

Would never ride without, too easy to take a knock on the head.

All the best with a speedy recovery.

Hope you get well soon.

I mountain biked for years without ever wearing a helmet. I didn't do that many mad descents, it was more wilderness stuff along mountain single track.

I guess I was lucky though - I trashed a couple of frames and bashed up my hands & legs, but never hit anything hard with my head.

Sh*t a brick fella!!

Always wear one, convincing (shouting) my daughters to do the same is a lifelong struggle though.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.  :happy2:

I really need to get one!! I came off last year on a road, nowhere near as bad as your accident though. I just snapped 2 teeth and cut my chin the rest was broken fingers and wrists.

Hope you get well soon mate :happy2:

I never ride without one - not even a little test ride after maintenance. I have come off too many times (mostly Cannock Chase - getting a little over-confident) and felt so glad I was wearing it!

You have done a proper job there, but as you say could have been much worse. I'd hate to think what you would have done without it.

Hope you make a speedy recovery and that it doesn't put you off in the future.  :drinking:

Mate that looks nasty. I've had a couple of mild concussions through my time mountain biking, but luckily never anything serious.

Looks like you came down hard, and thank goodness for that helmet.

Hope you make a speedy and full recovery.

Ouch Dom !

Get well soon mate

Helmets are life savers....!

Had an off between Ambleside and Coniston - notorious shingle tracks...

Oh and Dave was standing still and got his feet caught in his cleats...

Cheers

Glad your recovered mate and hope your straight back on that bike  :happy2:

Still suffering with concussion symptoms

And the bike was sold... was gonna take up knitting but fear of stabbing in the eye has seen that hobby off...
