Ignition live location for aftermarket stereo?
« on: May 29, 2013, 09:46:53 pm »
Trying to get my Kenwood KIV-700 installed in the Jetta before the 5hr drive to Devon on Friday night...hopefully I've got a fuse tap turning up tomorrow, and I've run the ignition live from the stereo loom to the fuse box.

Anyone got any pointers on which fuse to tap into? I've read about 5 conflicting suggestions (and a similar number of different fusebox diagrams). My multimeter is at my parents house, so I'm a bit stuck for testing.

Have any of you guys wired an aftermarket head unit, without the CANBUS loom?

Thanks.

Right, I've piggy backed onto the fuse for the cigarette lighter (kept pulling fuses until my phone charger in the socket didn't light up)

My connects2 loom is connected, but the head unit still won't power on. Head unit fuse is fine, and the unit was working fine before I removed it.

I'm stumped!
