Mat & VC..

Yes, im replacing the rear 3 windows with 4mm thick tinted polycarbonate, this should take out around 35kg according to VWR. I could go with the 2mm option, but I think it would end up looking like cling film and being very loud etc..

There are loads of bits I still want to do, but just working away at them really, replacing the boot with a carbon item would be ideal as im sure it would save a BIG chunk of weight, then I could just stick the boot on with the poly screen in one go, the only problem is that you can only get the carbon boot from Seibon and even there own press shots show the panel gaps to be all over the place and the rear lights dont level up.. It looks sh*t, and its 90% fibre glass too..

Looking.....what's the word?....cunning?.....no.....Stunning!! That's the word.

They breathe quality and fit in very well, both physically and in style.

so the Seibon lid is just CF skinned? so a matter of form over function then by the sounds of it

2mm does sound a little too wafer thin for me, but it wouldn't be looks that would worry me it would be vibration, 2mm isn't alot and when the sheet gets climate presures such as air, noise, mechanical and finally sunlight and heat then it's lifespan would be shorter surely? The difference of 1mm wouldn't be enough to sway me regardless of weight, plus the 3mm can hold weight on it's surface with a higher margin

i'll try that again

look at your rear window, the trailing edge doesn't sit flush to the panel, therefore aerodynamically that corner 'collects' stress in the form of resistance and air pressure as surface forces move over it, therefore the faster you go the more strain that piece will be under, focused from 1 corner, and at 2mm that could be a problem. unless you were to aerodynamically assist the section by either flushing or blending or adding an alice band; an almost flat spoiler shaped onto the bodywork just before the turbulent affected areas - mainly found on drag funny cars though to compensate for looks without suffering loss of performance so a bit extreme

I wouldn't think boot lid would make a MASSIVE difference any bud judging by how light they feel when closing etc (so much so they never shut properly first time  :fighting:).. But I can't say I have ever held one when not attached to the car, so hard to say..

That's the gas struts making them feel light, they're uber heavy

to complete the look of those sexy Recaro's I'd fit a Rear Strut Brace, then put in a 4 point harness system!!!

I really like the look of the inside of the Megane R26.R

To be honest It would just be dead weight though, I dont track the car, and dont plan to, and belts in a road car are a pain in the arse! lol..

Does look pretty funky though..

I really want to get the car tidied up, there is a long list of little bits that need doing, not going to cost much at all, just bits and bobs and details that will bring it all together and improve the overall look and quality level!

Not long until GTI International now!! Has to be FINISHED for then arrghhhh!

why don't u want to track the car?

I suppose you have bigger faster toys to play with on track anyway lol.

But it would surprise quite a lot of cars at a "normal" track day i reckon.

Well not really anything to do with that, I love driving anything on track, and I mean anything lol..

Just no one to play with usually..  :driver:

I may well take it on a circuit later this year at some point, say if a few of us are there etc..
