is it not cheaper though to buy 5litres of 5w 30 VW Quantum Longlife oil from some of the VW/Audi dealers on E Bay? or 5w 40 Platinum if you are running 5w 40?

Plus car was due a service, win win.

Its 4.6 for a oil change isn't it? Wonder if I'll get some back in the small litre bottle for top ups.

I have my GTI booked in for service at JCT600 VW Chesterfield and they have assured me that they (if you request) use castrol edge 5W 30 for the advertised minor service price of £139.99.

I dont believe for 1 second that they will so i suggested i supply the oil from euro carparts but ive had it confirmed by the two guys i spoke to on the service desk that they will. (last year they pranged my car so i wonder if im on a 'Good' list

If they say they will use, sure they will mate.

I supplied my own oil, got 0.5 litres back in the 1 litre bottle too 

£99 for the service and £39.98 for the oil.
