Ipod connector faulty ?

My ipod won't seem to connect when connected in the centre arm-rest ipod connector, it worked ok before.
Any idea's what the problem could be so that I can check.
New connector maybe ??
wondered if anyone had experienced the same and how you resoleved please ?

Mine has never worked. I've read many posts like yours.
I guess they are just pretty renowned for being pants.
