Another new CAI for the TFSI, this time from ITG
« on: August 13, 2009, 08:13:42 pm »
A few may have seen this one on the Revo Leon at Inters, but finally this is about to be released.

This is a pre-production version hence the cable ties

Likely to be a very similar price to the likes of the Evoms (shiney pipework may cost a bit more).

Results from the testing has shown very good gains over the stock airbox and Evoms.

Will be able to post some pic's on it on a Mk5 some time next week

Looks alright, v similar concept to bsh but no doubt it has much better filter on it, but I question how much air and what temp the air will be drawn in unless you have open fog grills

no doubt well see some logging soon though to show benefits

still prefer look and the concept of the forge twintake over that tbh

....x 2

I think the same.

ITG make good filters but are they going to leave that 'foam' cone exposed? It'll surely get into a filthy state.

myt thought exactly, Imagine the amount of salt and sh*t from the road that is going to get stuck on there. wont be any good then. Im holding out for the forge one i think. althoough mine is pretty rare and works very well.

main reason i bought it was they were rare , i got a mega deal, and the piping matched the paintwork :ashamed:

From seeing it after a few thousand miles on the Revo car it hadn't picked-up any major amount of the dirt.

Visually (apart from the massive forge badges) theirs looks better but with something like this I think I would rather function over form  :happy2:

Will be interesting to see what results the forge gets in terms of peak airflow (not just claimed BHP increases) to compare to the ITG one

the forge is going to be pulling in pure cold air though, from either the ram air scoop in the slam panel, or from the bottom filter acting as a CAI below the head light. the ITG one will get a little air given to it from the slam panel but also from the engine bay.

plus i think once on the move the forge intake should press home an advantage for having a ram air intake built into it. plus it looks infinately better than all the others on the market

....Yes, exactly my thoughts too.

However, I know from talking to ITG many moons ago that they weren't going to bother launching a new CAI unless they could offer significant gains. So the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. I like my pudding to look appetisingly attractive as well though and this is fugly!

Its the position of it which I'm not sure about right behind
the headlight and shrouded in thick foam,

without open fog grills it will not get much air, come winter when the roads get mucky I'm gonna be putting the stock grills back on

not written off yet though still keen to see some performance figures, and forge are raking forever to release their's...

....Forge seem to prefer to test their products in America and I believe that they sell more products there than in the UK. The Forge guys across the pond are certainly very active and play a part in development.
