Mk5 GTI Buying Advice
« on: July 04, 2013, 02:18:02 pm »
Hello

Going to look at a Mk5 GTi tonight with my mate. Car has covered 87k and is a 2005 model.

Its had a recent replacement DV, and the front wings replaced under warrenty this year as they were rusty.

The car is located in this link - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,59782.0.html

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks  :happy2:

Looks like a decent buy to me mate ;)
Reasonably priced for year and mileage, even better that its already had the wings and DV done ;)

Just make sure the colour match is good on the wings and all stamps are in the book :) the seat bolsters don't wear too well on the mk5's so don't let that put you off (if there is any wear).

Other areas to check for rust are the boot release handle and the sills... all covered under warranty anyway! The anthracite wheels suite in well.

Thanks for your reply matey  :happy2:

Went to view the car with my mate tonight, wings look good and colour match is good too, leather is clean and tidy too  :happy2:

As listed it wants a couple of things tidied up and my mate really doesn't have the skills or time to sort it so the search continues for him  :happy2:

Cheers

There's a couple of spots of rust where the windscreen meets the roof, various chips and marks in the paint, couple of dings, wheels need a refurb, the lacquer on the headlights is cloudy, damaged front VW badge, drivers side skirt needs re-bonded towards the rear - like I say, would be a good car for someone with the time and skillset to tackle it however my mate decided this wasn't the car for him.

If I didn't have my stage 2 mapped GT170 I'd have considered this for a project at the right price
