Problem with iPod dock
« on: July 06, 2013, 03:23:29 pm »
I have an ipod 30 pin dock in the center console of my car.  When I connect my ipod to it, I can flick through playlists through my car stereo like you should be able to, but the music just plays through the speakers on the ipod, not the car speakers.

Is this a problem with the dock?  Or am I missing something?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you press the CD button twice?

Other than, I don't know, I'm using an iPod Nano 6 Gen with old RCD300 and it works fine.

Yeah I've done than. That's how come I'm able to actually control the iPod through the stereo. I get the usual list of 1-6 CDs, indicating playlists on the iPhone, but then no music from car speakers :(

Can you try another iDevice?
Also which head unit are you using? And which iOS version?

I've tried 2 different ipods, and my iphone 5 (using adaptor) which is iOS 6.1.4 the most up to date.

CD player is RCD300

Do you have any error codes?

Also take a read of: http://myfastgti.com/volkswagen/threads/18805-2008-mkV-Ipod-Hookup although not sure if they came to a conclusion there are some things to try.
