I had a GTI backbox on my 2.0 TDI, no change to sound or any issues really, biggest concern is getting a reducer sleeve made up in a similar metal (most are stainless going onto mild steel = onset of rust)
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

the tsi is 55mm same as 1.9 tdi so i could put a genuine sleeve on it but the gti is 60mm so have to get a reducer thats why i am asking if the tsi one will be ok
did you put the full catback gti one on or just the back box cheers

If they are the same bore, I'd definitely do that with the OEM clamp then.
