P0441 & P2187 codes. help please
« on: July 22, 2013, 12:47:17 pm »
Hi,

really need some help.

about a month ago my CEL came on. my friend checked it with his snap on scanner and it came up with the P0441 evap code and a maf sensor code which im afraid I cant remember. he cleaned the maf and cleared the codes but they came back,  so I tried replacing the charcoal canister, but they came back again. I have now had the car checked with vag com and the only code that comes up is P2187 system too lean at idle. im not sure which direction to go in, do I replace the maf, or maybe the n80 valve or double check valve or maybe even the injectors. it does have a seriously loud tick when I accelerate and when its idling, which I had vw look at quite a while ago, they said it was just loud injectors and normal.
any help would be appreciated.

18619/P2187/008583 - Bank 1; System too Lean at Idle

 Possible Causes
 Injectors leak/blocked

 Air Intake Leak (after MAF)

 Exhaust Leak

 Possible Solutions
Check Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

 Check Injector(s)

 Check Fuel Pump

Check Activated Charcoal Filter (EVAP) System Solenoid Valve 1 (N80)

 Special Notes
When found in the NAR 2.0T (BPY) check RVUTB: 01-09-03 or 2018919 for updated Crankcase Breather Valve  If the breather valve is faulty, full engine vacuum is typically found when removing the oil cap at idle.

If it's not broke, Mod it.....

thanks for the info scopes. would there be any running problems if the maf or the fuel pump were faulty. the car seems to run fine.

Hey Matey

No worries, your best bet is to goggle P2187 code, and have a read to see if other guys are having the same problems as yourself...

It could be something as simple as a DV needs replaced, i'm not to sure on your cars history...
