steering torque sensor
« on: August 03, 2013, 02:36:28 pm »
I changed my front hubs, wishbones on brake calipers for the s3 setup this moring and after starting the car back up the steering light didnt go out it stayed a yellow colour. I then got a fault code 00573 steering torque sensor g269. I then checked and ajusted the tracking and cleared the fault code light went out. I then turned ignition off and restarted the car and light stayed on again with the same fault code! Could some one please help? Car also drives fine with the light on?

Checking Steering Torque Sensor (G269)
Prerequisites:
Ignition ON
Engine ON (Idle)
System voltage at least 11.0 V.

[Select]
[44 - Steering Assist]
[Meas. Blocks - 08]
Group 001
[Go!]
Field 2: Steering Torque Sensor (G269)
Turn the Steering Wheel multiple times completely to the left and right. The Torque Values should change.
If the Torque Values do change, it's most likely an intermittent Fault in the Wiring/Connectors.
If the Torque Values do NOT change, the Sensor itself or the Power Supply (Terminal 15) might be faulty.
Group 004
[Go!]
Field 2: Power Supply (Terminal 15), Specification: "Term. 15 ON"
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

Aven had chance yet mate cables in work il av to ava look tomorrow. Ive heard storys if you hit the track rod end to hard to break the taper where it goes into the hub u could damage the rack? Surley a good pot hole would give more of a impact than when i hit it?

Just checked the torque sensor using ross tech and all the torque values are moving as i move the steering wheel plus power supply terminal15 is on. I can clear the dtc and the yellow light will stay out while i drive the car but as soon as i turn the igntion off remove the keys then restart the car the light reappears and stays on! Anybody got any ideas please?

For the yellow steering wheel light.

Start the car and make sure the steering wheel is in the center
Turn the wheel to full lock left and hold it there for a few seconds
Turn the wheel to full right lock and hold for a few seconds
Go for a slow drive and it should go out

If the above reset doesn't work then you need a new rack.

Any use?

Might as well fit an uprated ARB while everything is off the car
