Remap potential of new GTIs?

Anyone know what a stage 1 on a mk6/7 would achieve? Thanks

My first mk6 in 2009 ran REVO and hit 260bhp on the rollers and 299lb ft stage 1. It was an animal when you wanted but did suffer excessive wheelspin and quite a bit of torque steer (running non standard wheels).
My next GTI was on Bluefin as it was reportedly much tamer and is a bit down on power from the REVO but much more civilised to drive. Much more like the standard car but with more power everywhere and no nasty torque spike at low RPMs (although torque spikes can be massive fun when you're in the mood!!!).

The mk7 is quite new yet and I haven't seen many remaps launched. Abt do a piggy back ECU and claim 300bhp straight out of the box which would be amazing, and DTUK do a tuning box which they claim adds another 30bhp.

The Mk7 has a newer version of the 2.0TSI.  If its got he same sort of variable valve timing as on the Audi's it should be impressive.

Yes it's the VVT engine Audi use.
Not seen much info on it from the usual tuners in the UK yet.
Even Oettinger in Germany don't seem to have software released.

They wont ever stop it.  If/when they eventually come up with an encryption that really stops OBD and ECU open remapping from occuring, the tuners will just move onto to piggyback ECUs.

If it's anything like the latest batch of EA888 engines seen in the MY12+ TT and the facelift A4/A5 then should be good - those get 305bhp at stage 1

APR are running a mk7 in the VW Cup I notice too, so we know they've been given the go ahead for unlocking the ECU possibly via their tie ins with VW Racing(?)

I doubt they have the VW encryptions to bypass it.  They no doubt open the ECU like with the other models

I  dont know the rules for the VW Cup, but i am pretty sure there are some. Just because APR are sponsoring one of them doesn't mean they can bolt all their bits on and map it how they want.  :laugh:
Imagine if they were allowed to do that! they would have to start naming the gravel traps the APR Graveyard and all the recovery trucks would have to be called the A.A PR.  :innocent:

Its all done on power to weight, so each car has to be individually tuned to a bespoke Hp figure to hit that Bhp/ton limit.  No idea what that Bhp/ton limit is though
