Isle of Wight newbie
« on: August 11, 2013, 08:20:34 am »
Not new to VW's and have had several MK'5s as company cars and having just left VW handed back a MK7 Gti as well.

Anyway on the look out for a MK5 Gti for the wife Ive just sold my 20vt MK2 and will be looking to replace the wife's MK5 for a car that will be mainly her car but something fun for me to drive on my days off.

So keeping an eye on the classifieds for a car.

Anyways Hello and as soon as I have one build thread will be started ;)

 :happy2:

Welcome there mate.

What sort of budget are you allowing for?

As you probably know there are two formats to look at with the Mk5 GTI's; K03 and K04.

A K04 will give you much bigger results when you mod it up... circa 360bhp+ where as the K03 is pretty much out of puff around 280bhp

The Mk6 seem to produce slightly better results in both torque and bhp over the K03... that said a well setup K03 GTI around 240-260bhp is no slouch, and really maximizes the standard brakes / handling.

Just spoken to the one local to me and got him down on the price. Have arranged to go up Thursday night. Just need to get me some xenons for the spec I was looking for. Then the fun can start.

So thanks for the help and figures crossed its as good as its sounds.

Full service history, had the cambelt last year and last service was at 72k. All wheels have just been refurbed as well
