Guys can you help me out?
I want to use voice commands in my own language (Dutch) and also want the V9 western europe maps, so I need to upgrade.
(I have a Kufatec Fiscon plus and recently installed a extra microphone to activate voice commands)
In 2011, when I bought my second hand rns 510 I installed Josi's modified FW2760 firmware on it, so I wouldn't get a powerdrain and everything worked great (untill this point, where I want the above voice recognition).

What I have:
- RNS 510 in my 2005 VW Golf mk5 gti (Original B unit that came from factory with sw0900)
- 'E' type Can gateway (so vulnerable to power drain)
- Josi's FW2760 modified firmware (that uses the 1200 vuci, so I don't get a powerdrain)
- V8 western europe maps with traffic cams
- vim (bertho89)
- working old style (2005.5) mfsw buttons (see: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/images/a5/buyg/mfswbutton.jpg
- no power drain
- working sd cards
- correct brightness (auto dimming)

What I want:
- Newest possible firmware (with Dutch voice commands)
- Newest western europe maps (v9?!)
- No power drain (keeping my 'E' type can gateway)
- I don't want to recode (I don't have vcds at the moment)
- working sd cards
- correct brightness (auto dimming)

Since I did my last fw update (2011) a lot changed in the way rns510's need to be updated and as far as I know special fully vuci1200 integrated fw's are no longer released.
Also there are 3 partitions on the hdd with newer fw's (I still have 2 partitions), etc. etc...

In short: I don't know (and can't find) how to update my B version correcly, looking at 'what I want'.
Can someone help me out?
(a how-to and links to the correct/newest possible firmware, maps and additional extra's concerning the vuci/powerdrain)

For example -> Can I download and install the modified european fw4020 firmware on my B unit: EU_4020a_noru_70_25_5.ISO found on: http://www.rnsfirmware.com/ ?
Will everything work without recoding/vagcom?

Sorry I do not know an answer to your specific question, but going from 2760 to 4020 is not possible, you have to install 3810 first to repartition the hard disk. Then you go to 4020 afterwards.

You know the cost of a CAN gateway has come down a lot in recent times? Eddie should sort you out with one, or local breakers should have some nowadays.

If you look on my-gti.com there will be guides, the links for firmware may be broken but if you Google the names of the images you will find it hosted elsewhere.

By the way, I have 4020a on my A unit working flawlessly and it has VIM, but I updated the gateway also.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Just minutes before you posted I found the guts to install the above fw4020.
Installation went smoothly and everything works 100%! So it is possible!
Hdd and nav maps where erased but no problem for me. I have v8 maps on dvd and that works. Still looking for v9 maps to download...

Only thing not working: phone (kufatec fiscon). Button acts as a mute button. How comes? Do i need to recode with vcds?

Haven't tested vim and powerdrain yet. Will found out tomorrow!

And what about radio-text? I thought this was possible in fw4020?

Really? I guess the info on that site was duff then in regard to 3810 first. But good news otherwise.

Is it not 4120 for radio text?

Yes you may have to log into 56-radio to recode the Fiscon.

It worked without installing 3810 first, but maybe I still have 2 partitions instead of 3? How can I see this? I see my hdd has 20gb free for music...

Next week I have my laptop / vcds back so I can recode the phone option.
Do I also need to recode the unit from 9 to 10 bits?
Found something about that over here: http://www.my-gti.com/3354/volkswagen-rns-510-firmware-upgrade-to-version-4020-4024-4026-4028

Started the gti today (started immediately, so guess no powerdrain).
RNS510 starts up quicker (compared tot fw2760) with the new VW startup logo.
Phone function is working again and also the buttons ons the steering wheel.
So I quess the rns510 just needed a reset/cold-startup to communicate with the other can modules (like the fiscon).
So everything works as it should! (haven't teste vim yet)
Only thing is I still don't know if I have 2 or 3 partitions.

I would like radio text (FW4120+), is there also a modded firmware (with vuci 1200 for powerdrain) I can use?
