Has anyone tried Contact Sport 5's yet?
« on: August 15, 2013, 04:37:34 pm »
Looking for some new tyres for the Jetta and not too sure what to go with. Had P Zero rossos before but they are pretty bad in the wet so looking for something else. Had Contact sport 3s a while ago and seen as these are replacing them, I was wondering if anyone has tried them. Cheers

Had 2 fitted to the fronts last week. I feel less confident on these than the 3's i had before and the 2's before that...... Maybe they need more warming up or something, will see once they get a few more miles on em if that changes...

ive got Conti 5's all round... had them about 10 months now.. think they're a great tyre but i dont push the car hard often.. they're decent in the wet and were good in the snow for what we used the car for..

They are good but,  always found wear rate is terrible on conti's. Best with PS3's or Assy 2's.

Got a set of these on the front of mine. Very happy with them - had a set of them previously fitted on my old mkiv, which replaced a set of Dunlop Sport Maxes - no problems with wear really. Much quieter than the Dunlops, and the Toyo Proxes T1S's (fitted before the Dunlops).
With my mk5, I did a trackday when the Contisports were 2-3 weeks old - caused a bit of graining on the front edges, but since then, they seem to be lasting very well (6-7k covered).
Feel good (much better than the Linglongs the car came with) - grip well, quiet, cost is ok. I'm happy with them.

I've found conti sports too noisy ..but never tried 5's ..I've just fitted falken 914 and I've been impressed with dry and wet weather performance
