GTI intake without turbo noise?
« on: August 15, 2013, 10:01:53 pm »
Hi,

I've recently got an Edition 30, which I absolutely love.  It's standard at the mo and I would like to go to Stage 1 and also improve the sound of the engine.

Is there an aftermarket air intake that gives more induction noise without any turbo dump/blow off sounds?

Thanks,

G.

The Volant CAI had little dump/blow off sound but more intake noise, made the car feel a lot less bogged down too.  I think generally the closed CAI's will have a more controlled blow off/dump noise than the open cones...

I'd give the vwr intake a go, it's an enclosed filter which gives really good Gaines but the blow off noise shouldn't be too bad with it. I'd have one myself but I'm going for a loud system!

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions - I hadn't heard of the Volant brand before, but it sounds great on Youtube.  Shame that they seem to be hard to get hold of in the UK - is there a known stockist for them?

I'll also have a look for some videos of the VWR one.

Cheers.

No, just order one from USA, they only take 10-14 days to arrive and are roughly half the price of VWR taxed ITG :happy2:

Pretty sure someone was selling one practically brand new in the for sale section :happy2:  Might be a couple of pages down by now though...

That would have been me but I sold it a couple of weeks ago. I've got a dbilas intake now which is even quieter than the volant however I have been considering selling this recently and going back to standard.

Bought mine from eBay mate, but worth noting that it will incur customs charges, about £50 extra iirc.
