My New Gti- Now Stage 2, Colour Coding etc.. PICS!
« on: August 22, 2013, 10:56:21 am »
I bought my Gti 2 weeks ago after doing 500 miles with a mate trying to find a good one.

Its a red 3 door in great condition, 71k Miles, Full service history, long MOT and tax. Ideal!

It already had a Milltek cat back resonated exhaust, Neuspeed intake and Forge diverter valve. It had a APR stage 1 map but VW done a recall on software and wiped it back to standard!

Here it is on my recovery when bought!

Horrible un-coded rear bumper.

First thing i done was get rear bumper colour coded and awaited new wheels and Eibach springs

Wheels and springs fitted, and an all important timing belt kit.

Changed Milltek resonated to non resonated and fitted a 3" decat downpipe so it had all hardware for stage 2 mapping

Then took it to Autohaus Edinburgh to get it mapped to stage 2, which was free as it had already had an APR map in the past- they do free upgrades! Should be 270-280bhp but will get it on a rolling road sometime soon.

Decided i didnt like black side skirts and lower front valance, so removed them and got them painted. I also fitted a later rear badge as mine was goosed.
Front Before:

After:

Sideskirts before:

Painted and how it is now:

Gave it a polish which really isnt like me!

Sorry for the brutal pictures, theyre just taken randomly on my Iphone. Ill get some better ones soon.

Comments welcome!

Thanks, yeh im very happy now i got them colour coded. Wasnt sure whether to get them done or not, but definitely looks better now.

Anyone had theirs colour coded? I removed the skirts and front splitter and took to the bodyshop, he took £280 cash job. Is that not steep!?  :surprised:

He previously done whole back bumper, including removing and refitting for £125!

Want a short private plate now, and wouldnt mind some coilovers to drop another 20mm!!

Looks nice  :happy2:

I am having a resonated Milltek fitted this Saturday, I have original down pipe though. Did you change to non resonated to get some extra sound?

Also are those new wheels reps?

What springs are they the height looks perfect?

cheers

Did you get your non res pipe off eBay? How many clamps did you get with it?

Yeh i thought resonated was too quiet, even with a decat! Non resonated off Ebay (Roadrunner Motorsport) was £120. Comes with reducer to fit standard downpipe and 2 clamps.

Wheels are BBS reps, disnt fancy paying £1500+. The reps are made by 'Dare' so a heard of name too.

Springs are Eibach sportlines.

£125 is a very good price I think for rear. Maybe he charged more as skirts front more fiddly to smooth etc.

Looking into getting my rear bumper smoothed painted the same  :happy2:

Cars looking miles better just colour coding it and looks well on those wheels too

Be careful with the German plates as they are illegal as it isn't the standard UK font and so you may have trouble with the police as I don't think ANPR will like them

Got my pressed plates off dubmeister at inters a few years back and look great but have the all important BS Kite mark, post code and UK font too  :happy2:
