Rear engine mount replacement

My rear engine mount is in need of a new bush anybody got any experience or advise in getting the bush out of the subframe? I've been told there is a specail tool for it but cannot find one?

Just a suggestion but would a polyurethane insert kit sort the problem for you?  You only then need to undo the bolt, insert with the kit's larger washers and then replace the bolt.

I've just fitted one to my GTI DSG and have been very pleased with the results - saves having to fight to remove the old bush!
OEM+ 2005 GTI DSG (high factory standard spec and upgraded with S3 alloy hubs, S3 alloy wishbones, Bilstein B8s and VWR springs by my own hands) owned since 2008 and still loving it!

You have to drop the subframe. You need a press to get the new bushes back in I think

I read on 'honestjohn' of someones engine falling out due to broken mounts. Is this likely to happen to me today? :scared:

No, it will be fine.  The lower engine mount (attached to the 'torque arm') merely limits front/rear twist from the engine as power is applied or backed off.  The worst you will get is a clunk or knock if it is excessively worn.
