Sorry only saw this late.

This firmware updates both A and B units.

As for the speed being in KM it's because you have modified maps showing speed cameras.

HTH

Carl :happy2:

how do we change it to MPH though ?, something on the map file ?

Without seeing what's been added for the speed cameras I'm not sure.

It must be something to do with the data that's being added for the Speed Cam POI.

Where is the data coming from. If it is coming from a non UK source i.e. A foreign map disc that could be why.

But as I said I would need to see what files have been added.

The files that get updated on the V4 disc I have with speed camera's are the CDROM.TOC and some of the POI IDX and HTML files under the tpd\ntcWeu_eu_20081110\ENG folder.

I suspend the v4 disc I have is the source of the problem not the speed camera overlay

I've had a few people asking me how to rig up the voice control for use with the new firmware in the RNS510.  I have a similar setup in my car, known as SDS, since I bought it and it works well.  This is how I've done it myself (and this one is for Hedge's little passion wagon) - perhaps a little more complicated than required but, as ever, entirely reversible come sale time.

Parts you'll need (assuming you have the 26xx firmware, OEM Bluetooth installed and MFSW) -

Female Microphone Plug x1  1J0 973 332
Male Microphone Plug x1      1J0 973 119
Repair Wire x1                     000 979 019 (for Plug 1J0 973 119)
Repair Wire x1                     000 979 132 (for Plug 1J0 973 332)
Repair Wire x2                     000 979 009 (for Plug 3B7 035 447 B)
Repair Wire x2      000 979 009 (for Plug 3B7 035 447 B)

2 - 3m of screened cable (minimum of 4 core), some heat shrink and soldering equipment.

Connections are as follows -

Plug 3B7 035 447 B

Pin 7 = Mic In +ve
Pin 1 = Mic In -ve
Pin 9 = Mic Out +ve
Pin 4 = Mic Out -ve

The idea is to remove the plug from the microphone in the headlining and plug in one end of this replacement lead which is then run down the door pillar, to the back of the head unit and connected to the Mic In connections in the existing green plug (3B7 035 447 B). From the Mic Out connections in the green plug and back up to the microphone but this time plugging in to the cable that runs to the Bluetooth Unit.   I've soldered the connections and used heat shrink to tidy it up a little.

Here is the head unit end complete (i'll post up the other end when the plugs arrive)

Some pics of the microphone end

Has anyone else had their battery drain since upgrading to 26xx? Mine was dead this morning (cost me £100 for a new one). Just trying to determine if the issue is with my can gateway, or if its an issue with the firmware.

Been hearing a bit about this phone issue, have you given the coding a once over.  One of the guys on Brisky has said a Blackbury thingy doesn't work properly anymore but SE and iPhone are fine - Odd.

I would be surprised if a firmware update has suddenly caused the RNS to suddenly be live all the time.

You shouldn't have needed to buy a new battery just get a decent recharger or was it completely dead. I had mine go flat when the fan kept starting of it's own accord due to water ingredd and I just used a decent battery charger for about 18hrs and it was fine.

Make sure you haven't got water ingress into the electric box in the engine bay.

Other than that can't see why else the battery would have been flattened as the ecu would have killed the power to the RNS anyway after about 60 mins

Carl, thanks for the advice, but there are plenty of reports on VW Navi about earlier Can-bus controllers causing power drains when updating to RCD510 and RNS510 systems.  :sad1:

^ think he said he would be surprised if a firmware update caused the battery fail, not the RNS install

And also stated that he couldnt see why the power would have been flattened.

On VW Navi, people with similar symptoms (flat battery) had also reported just updating to 26xx too. But yet to find out if actually updating the can gateway fixed the issue.
