do I decat or stick with the sports cat..catch 22!
« on: August 23, 2013, 05:31:30 pm »
Hi guys,
Going to be putting a new BCS system on my Eddie soon....

Decat was my first choice...but after some research on here some people and also the exhaust person I am in contact with say a decat isn't worth it?

It's a stage 2+ Eddie and they said with a sports cat it really isn't worth it for MOT and spot check purposes....

My thoughts are that I want a louder DSG pop but don't want a loud drone...and more power

It's catch 22  :fighting:
Anyone have any further advice! I did a search but couldn't get the right answers  :drinking:

Ive got decat and non resonated Milltek, it has no drone and is actually still pretty quiet if you want it to be, only when your on it it sounds mad! I get a cool popping off it when the traction control kicks in, id imagine thats what you'll get from DSG too. Its cool.

Couldnt comment on power/ noise reduction between decat and sports cat though.

For the sake of changing it once a year im happy with decat. If a sports cat loses its peformance in way of failing emissions, which i have seen, then its a very expensive replacement.

Just go decat and swap it for mot once a year!

In the same boat here... Have a non res Milltek cat back, for a stainless exhaust it's still very quite.... I want more crazy pops n bangs when it's hot and getting some spirited driving.. I'm thinking just a de cat... Because I think they won't be to loud..

not really worth a decat m8,you probably wont feel the difference in performance apart from the extra noise

If a car with decat fitted was mapped for the decat, would having the cat refitted throw up a light that would then fail the MOT?

I would fit the 100 cel sports cat from BCS, as they flow like a decat but will still pass the mot.
