Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac splits
« on: August 27, 2013, 10:33:51 am »
About a month or so ago, wifeys 2005 GTi failed the MOT on tyres - There was a bulge, and significant splitting on the inner sidewall of both front tyres. The splits run at intervals around the tyre. They have only been on the car around 12 months, and were purchased from camskill. There was a small amount of wear on the outer shoulder of the tyre, but not significant.

Date codes on the tyres are 0911 and 0912, which I assume are Sept 2011 and Sept 2012, so it rules out a single bad batch of tyres. I have emailed customer services at Vredestein last week, with pics, but not heard anything back yet.

Has anyone had similar issues with these tyres?

They now have now been replaced by Goodyears, and have had a full alignment done - Tracking was slightly out, but not enough to have caused the issue - The worrying thing is, I drove from Staffordhire to Torquay the week before with wife and 1 year old daughter in the car.   :scared:

Edit: I'm not sure how to load photo's into my post....  :ashamed:

I have had 5 sets of Sessantas now, always pushed them hard, and never had this problem.
Could be bumping up and down curbs? Perhaps there's a sharp curb near your house or a place you regularly go.

I've no idea, it's happened on both front tyres, and my drive is a drop kerb in front of it. Odd.....

Ive had these on the front for about 2 years and have had no issues. So this is very odd.
